Hi everyone,
Ezzo here. I'm new to this forum as I don't have a Volvo at the moment. I used to own:
-1986 240GLE sedan. Driven from 140K Km to 300K Km, and sold in 2008.
-1989 740GLE 16v wagon. Driven from 170K Km to 290K Km. Sold in 2016.
-1990 740GLE 16v sedan. Driven from 156K Km to 200K Km. Sold in 2014.

A friend has a 2010 XC90 V6 AWD with 220K Km on the odo, and wants to sell it. I am considering to buy it.

Can you please give me all the general and the specific problems of this car?

My concerns would be related to:
- Reliability, which I heard is not as same as the good old bricks like the 240s and 740s.
- Rust: I don't see any rust on the panels but I still have to look under the car.
- Engine timing. I have been bitten by the timing belt breaking before. Does this car have a timing belt or chain?
- Gas mileage: can this V6 be so bad?
- interior rattle: does this apply to this model?

Please let me know what to look for before I buy this car.
Also, would anyone know what price range I should be looking for here?

 

My wife had an 08 and a 13 and both ran problem free until we get rid of them right around the 120k mark. Never had a repair or check engine light other than motor mount on both of them which was around 250.00 at the dealer. Gas mileage was in the low 20's as my wife drove mostly in city traffic. Never heard a squeak or rattle although the front axle's make a clicking sound when taking off...not related to bad CV joint but a well known annoyance on these models.
