Sticky Caliper Issue
Hello. Can anyone help please? Has anyone had a similar issue?
Issue:
Thanks for any suggestions and recommendations.
Issue:
- 2018 XC90 Inscription with 50K miles
- Drivers front caliper (only) has a mind of its own
- Driver front caliper will gradually engage during a road trip, squeezing the pads onto the rotor
- We all know the outcome....
- As the rotor gets hotter it makes a louder and louder grinding sound
- When we go to brake the steering wheel shakes - a lot
- No codes, no check engine light, no dash lights...nothing - making this all the more mysterious
- Volvo can't diagnose and therefore is unwilling to start replacing things without knowing for certain what is going on
- The only "fix" I know is to hit the brakes hard for a second or two engaging the ABS making the caliper pistons move in and out several times a second
- Once this happens the pistons seem to disengage ..., until the next time
Thanks for any suggestions and recommendations.

* Check out www.erievovo.com (that's not a misspelling)
* I purchased two calipers off a donor car that had 18,000 miles
* My local auto tech put my XC90 in Service Mode and swapped out both calipers
* Parts from Erie, new ceramic front pads plus labor from my guy totaled $500.00
* All Erie does is specialize in Volvo parts
* Most Erie listings have pics - which I found helpful
* Erie will deal on price, but not a lot.
Good luck!
