Default talk to me about reliability

My wife and I are in the market for a 7 seater. We are looking to buy new. We've looked at the XC90, the Q7, RDX and the Hyundai Santa Fe (it was next door). I'm gonna take a look at the mazda offering tomorrow. We were sold on the xc90, it seems to check all of the boxes. Much to my dismay, though, I've been perusing consumerreports and some other websites and the issues that I've seen what the XC90 - well I'm not sure what to think. Are the unhappiest people simply the loudest and the vast majority do fine? What is the true reliability of this car? If i'm putting in 60k then I better not be at the dealership for anything beyond routine service - and I definitely don't want to be shelling out thousands after the warranty.. but it looks like there are some downright issues. Am I mistaken? Talk to me. Is this car a safe bet?

A lot of the issues have been taken care of with software updates. But I still wouldn't count on going the first 10,000 miles or one year without something popping up.

You know that's fine - if a little issue pops up, I can get a dealer loaner and no biggie. What about when 40k expires and I end up with a roof leak? Is that even a thing? How can this be SUV of the year with that kind of issue (it's even on this forum)

The water leak has been fixed with a new seal for the sunroof tray. But I know what you're saying. I can't tell you how they will hold up in 4 or 5 years. Its a new design, not just cosmetically but from the inside out. New network with lots of new bells and whistles, new platform, new engine, etc.
