I never expected that VOLVO designers put such an important board in a place that easy to get flooded.

1. few days ago I received several system fail messages on my dashboard: NO ACTIVE STEERING, NO CRUISE CONTROL, NO GPS, NO CAMERAS, NO BLIND SPOT DETECTION
2. I checked all fuses on passenger side panel ( all ok )
3 I went to inspect fusebox at the rear end of the vehicle and It was fully flooded with rain water.
NO IDEA how water got there but very likely : COLD AND WARM temperatures FROZEN water ducts and water from melted snow on the roof flooded the space where fuse box was and VCM module mounted UNDER!!! the fuse box ! check pictures
DESIGNER of this 2016 - 2022 VOLVO XC90 should be hanged by his *****!

got quote from dealer : 2750CAD + 13% TAX and they want old module "core" for replacement fee $350
Radiciolous !!!

All rusted and water damage VCM

Visible water damage

Canadian version VCM GSM module , GPS AND OTHER DRIVER SUPPORT FUNCTIONS FROM THIS BOX

OEM part of this VCM IS : 31450885 , here is part of the email from VOLVO PARTS: "The replacement for that is part 36012656. $2768.58

This would ship from the states and take a few days to come in

There is a $360 core charge on top of this

These do not come preprogrammed. The car would need to be brought to a Volvo dealer for programming

If you’d like to order I would need prepayment for this part"

Hi, did you resolve you problem?
I have the exact same problem as you and I'm convinced that the VCM is the problem.
I have a MY16 XC90 and is the VCM really UNDER the fuse box? All the other threads I'm reading says that the VCM is on the side of the rear wall, above the wheen well location.
Also, did you resolve your car leaking? I'm about to disassemble the sunroof and clean out the water hole on the rear.
I was wondering if I could get some feedback before I do the work. Thanks!

I might have the same problem. Took the xc90 to the dealer and replaced the battery and it started,
went to pick it up, NO start . Dlr wants to take out the interior for 1200.00 without replacing anything.
Parts are extra. They fixed the leak when the sunroof leaked under warranty.
This xc90 has been a POS never will buy a volvo ever again.
