Default XC90 headlight issue

Hi all! First post. I did a search and couldn't find an answer but I'm not sure I'm looking for the right terms.

I'm dumb and left the parking lights on for a week while I went on vacation. Came back to a dead battery. We got it jumped (via the front position, seemed normal and per the instructions I've seen). We drove the car 2 hours home and the battery didn't recharge. I figured the battery is dead and instead of paying the stealer ship changed the battery myself.

Everything is back and working except i have the headlight service message now. All light functions seem fine except i don't thing the low beams are moving side to side with the steering (unless they don't move anyway when you're parked). Parking lights, fog lights, fog lights turning on on the inside of the turn, daytime lights, low beams, high beams and turn signals all seem to be working normal.

My ODB II reader doesn't pull any codes.

Is there a calibration or something that maybe got forgot when the battery was dead so long or lost in a surge from the jump? A fuse to replace?

I hate going to the dealership, it's an arm and a leg. Thanks for any tips on where to look next.

The warning on the dash is "Headlight malfunction" and the car status page in the center says "maintenance required". Then the yellow light in the dash is the yellow/orange headlight symbol with arrows on both sides. Volvo XC90 2019 T5 Momentum.

Thanks!
Will

The active turning headlamps do not move if you are sitting still - the car has to be moving. Move the steering at 5 mph - the lights should "steer".

Your "OBD2" reader - may only read codes from pollution related modules - ECU and TCU, so -

You need to scan the car with a compatible scanner that can talk to ALL the modules in your car.

You may have a problem with your HCU - Headlamp control unit. My 2015 started having problems with headlamp error messages and fortunately on my car I was able to turn off active headlamp bending in a menu - and avoid replacing anything (expensive) until I traded the car in.

Is that "VIDA" and a trip to the dealership?

Certainly VIDA will work - but there are aftermarket/non Volvo solutions (compatible scan tools) available also.

Threw down $200 on the fanciest reasonably priced ODB2 i could find. iCarsoft vol V3.0. headlamp functions weren't available for XC90 s after 2016.

Oh well... Return... Off to the stealership for a $120 read plus whatever price they feel like making up to troubleshoot.

You can always check the fuses in the engine bay first, # 28,29, 48, & 53. Depending on headlight variants, some might be empty. At least the fuses aren't under the glove box
