Volvo Electrical Problem
Folks-
II have spilled a Diet Coke in the gear shifter of my 2002 Volvo V70. Since that time, the car has had problems starting, and the Fan/Air Conditioner will not turn off. The car is still drivable, but needs a jump every time. I have replaced the battery on the off chance it was why the car was acting squirrelly.
I have taken off the shifter cover (the **** won’t come out for some reason) and there doesn’t seem to be any liquid inside. All fuses are intact as well.

the soda could have left some residues that are shorting out the wiring so a solid cleaning is due or you may have some corrosion (Coke is acidic - it can be used to take paint off things like golf club heads!). I had a friend who's battery kept dying and it turned out there was an orange peel in the lighter socket! The shifter **** should pull straight up and off.
