Driving peace of mind, with a stick.
Hello fellow Volvo Drivers,
With my 1991 740T Sedan, I have an M-47 tranny..My tank will be taking me where i must, at my will...
So anyways, in regard to driveability, I am wondering if there are specific upgrades and/or reenforcments to the transmission, i.e. clutchs, pressure plates, flywheels...made for a bit more performance shifting than a kosher drive down the highway. Now keep in mind I don't want to go crazy and burn things out needlessly, but my last tank was an '84 240 sedan w/ M-46...I would always downshift/shift to lower gears to slow; this produced this beautiful hum from the Volvo. After about 3 months of that I, one day, was driving and when i downshifted, the vehicle had no power...the clutch was shot.
So, after that example, I'm looking for a practicle solution to what may be an issue. Something affordable and well known for Volvo tanks as reliable and mateable. I have seen something of the sort...Sachs clutch kits? Any feedback is regarded well, thanks.

Look into SPEC clutch systems, if they make them for your ride. Some will say these aftermarket systems are cheap but still look into them.
http://www.vivaperformance.com sells them, but not for your ride. However you can contact VIVA and maybe they will be able to help you. Also become a member of TURBOBRICKS and see what they have done over there to their manual trannies.
