Default Flat Tire

I accidentally pulled the valve stem out of my S60 trying to check tire pressure. Do I need to get a dealer replacement?

Can you screw it back in? Other than that, I'm not sure. A valve stem should be a valve stem.

Any tire shop can replace it. Some places wont charge for it.

Just wait until we all have federally-mandated TPS (tire pressure sensors) because of those individuals unable to check their tire pressure. Somehow, I think there's a simple gauge, analog or digital (take your pick) to perform this task. Then again, some might choose the eyeball and thumb pressure method if the gauge method is too troublesome.

The original idea was probably good for "run flat" tires. But, of course, now they'll become some added mandatory electronic geegaws which will wear out and need to be replaced after giving misleading readings to a driver with a lighted alert on the dash. Remember, the sensor is inside the tire, subject to huge temp variations, and of course, many millions of revolutions over its lifetime at different speeds and centrifugal forces.
