Smelly Shoe Smell 2004 V70
Anybody have an idea of what would be causing a smell similar to "smelly shoes or socks" for approx 15 seconds when first turning on air vent or air conditioning in my 04 V70 wagon? Wife is pregnant and it makes her want to throw up every time.. not a good situation.
Thanks

You probably need an a/c -evaporator cleaning, with a new cabin filter. Volvo has the tool, or you can do it yourself. Remove the cabin filter and spray some of this in there when it is off and turn it on and try to spray some more.

Create your own odor-eater by combining baking soda and some essential oils -- Geranium Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, Bergamot. Places a couple of tablespoons of the concoction in a square of cheesecloths and tie off the ends with a bit of ribbon or a rubber band. Leave the sachets in the shoes overnight.
You may also want to take a cotton ball with a few drops of tea tree oil and rub the insides of the shoes. Do this everyday or every other day and you should be able keep the stinky bacteria at bay.
