Question Why is my 940T cold??

During winter driving conditions, even if I let the '94 940T warm up, temp gage in mid range, heat warm, once I begin to drive it cools off so much the heater feels like a cheap heat pump blowing cold air. What is the solution? Thanks, rooster

Check your thermostat for correct operation.

Exclamation thank you typhoon

Thanks, Andrew, I will change thermostat in the am. Tonight I popped the hood to take a look and was shocked to find the engin HOT, glowing red on exhaust manifold. !!! But still no heat. I now understand this could mean water pump if after I test and change thermostat. Any thoughts? thx, Colin

Have you got coolant? Glowing exhaust manifold can be overly rich fuel mixture or retarded timing, that will cause an engine to run cold too.

Regards, Andrew.

Smile Thanks,andrew

Yea, I have coolant, and when I took out the thermostat, it was visibly damaged. Put the new one in, fan working, water circulating, normal engin temp, and the Heat works so my son no longer complains returning from skiing. Also changed the plugs, and pleased to note that the old ones looked really clean, no oil. I will check the exhaust manifold again at night, but think thermostat fixed everything. Thank you again, Colin
