Hello everybody. My name is Douglas. I am older guy living down here in Mexico. I am heavily reliant upon my poor old but always faithful '89 Volvo wagon 740 GLE. After losing power, checking and replacing Mass Air Flow sensor, rotor, coil etc and looking at gasoline system -- gas pump replaced -- it seems only the computer remains. I have not a scanner to check and the local mechanic has made the educated guess it is the control computer. I removed it and have the part at hand. Trouble is, none of the numbers match with anything I find available. Some computers advertised say 'will work with most/all 740 models of my year but I am not sure. Could anyone please advise me, I am completely stuck here. The computer I removed is a Bosch, "Jetronic." The first number is: 0 280 000 571. The other number is: 3 517 608. I have seen similar but not exact numbers on parts I have come across on the internet. Also, I have seen a "send in and we will repairt and return service." has anyone experience with this? I love my old Volvo like I loved my sixties era VW Bugs as a teenager during the '8o's and being kinda poor on Disability can't really afford no wish to buy another. Thank you all so very much! Douglas My exact part I am looking for.
