Default `92 940t Broken Horn

Recently the horn on my 940 turbo has stopped working.
I found the module behind the front bumper, and found that it has power coming to it.
When I short the ground to the frame, the horn sounds just fine, so I`m sure the horn itself works, but when I hit the button on the steering wheel, nothing happens.
Anyone have any trouble shooting tips or experience with this problem?

Thanks in advance.

When I ground the unit under the front bumper, it doesn't matter if the horn button is pressed or not.

Because the horn unit has power when the key is on, I assume that this means the horn button in the car connects the negative terminal of the horn to the ground, thereby sounding the horn. I don't know a lot about electronics so I may have this terminology a little bit off.

I've searched my chilton's manual but they don't have anything about the horn. I've searched online and found similar problems on the 850, but it doesn't appear to have the same steering wheel so I assume it doesn't have the same horn internals.

The horn button grounds the horn through the steering shaft and steering column to ground, as you correctly guessed.
You will have either a failed horn button or a bad earth strap in the steering column somewhere.

Thanks Andrew,
I`m a little hesitant to tear into this because of the air bag issues. I've read up on the 850 and you disco the battery, turn the wheel full lock, and behind the wheel there's a torx bolt. you pull two of those, unplug the airbag wires and remove it, and then can access the horn button internals.
Do you know if a 940 wheel is set up the same way?
Any additional precautions necessary because of the airbag?

Mike
