240 idles high
Greeting all, new member and of course a question. I have a 1980 model, and as it warms up, the idle goes up to about 2000 rpm. Engine runs smooth. I had to adjust the timing a bit. All linkages and idle screws set. What next?

The 80 has KJet injection with ConstantIdleSystem (CIS). There is a stepper motor under the intake manifold that has either died or is not connected properly. You can disable the CIS and set the idle manually but it will not adapt to cold starts or when a/c is on. There is a blue and white striped wire on the left inner fender. There are two wires located right next to the ignition box. There is a red wire just hanging and a blue white just hanging. They both have black connectors. If you ground out the blue white wire the idle system is disabled. Do not under any circumstances ground the red wire. You will damage the fuel system computer. To have an adjustable idle without the CIS you would want to put some type of adjustable valve in the hoses that the control motor is in.
