My 85 Volvo 240 has started idleing very high. It is idleing between 2000 to 2500. I was checking the vac lines and they seem ok. Now when I pulled the vac line off the brake power booster the RPM went to 3000. Also I noticed when I was driving it today that the brakes felt kind of spongie.

If any one has any suggestions, please help.

 

I would try cleaning the throttle body and idle motor and see if that helps.

 

Where is the Idle motor located?

 

It is located under the intake manifold. It is a cylinder looking thing with 2 hoses going to it.
