Default 240 rear door jammed shut

The rear door on the driver's side of my '86 240 wagon was sticking, but I could get it open. Then I got angry one day and slammed it. Bad move! Now I can't get it open. The inside door handle feels like it is working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Would it help to loosen the door hinges and try to wiggle the door back and forth? Help!

Check this out at post #7:

As it said, you can try pushing in to get it to release and then adjust the latch.

Titan Joe, you are a miracle worker! I tried pushing the door in with my hip, lifted up the handle, and the door popped right open! A thousand thanks.

The doors get STUCK due to non use. Open them up now and then, may be even lube the hinges and the door strikers.

The doors on my Volvo wagon were beginning to get awful at opening and closing. They'd stick. some WD40 solved that issue!

wd40 is a cleaner, and rust preventive, its not a good lubricant. its not a good penetrant either.

use some white lithium grease spray on the locks, applied where it needs to go, and wipe off where you don't want it, like the paint and the outside of the striker plates.. I put this on the back seat latches in my wagon, too, it stops them from squeaking and rattling on bumps and rough roads.

Good advice, lev. Let me add the following: Don't lose your temper and slam the door shut as hard as you can.

Yeah, my dad had to tell that to a lot of people when they came into the gun store with their guns filled and dripping with WD-40 and saying that it will not work anymore.
