Default 740 GLE Timing

Hello everyone;

I have an 88 Volvo 740 GLE non turbo. I could only get it to advance to 8 -9 while hitting it with a timing light .
Someone mentioned that it might need to have a switch off or disconnected... Not sure what he was talking about he didn't quiet know himself. Anyone got any Ideas how to get it @ 12(+,- 2`)

I have done everything else but she still stalls out in City gridlock and get about. Not all the time but that's when it happens . Warmer weather more often. She stop for a lil while after I got a new catalytic converter put in for the smog.

Any clues would rock.

Thanks !

check your timing belt to be sure all three shafts (crank, cam, and intermediate) are properly aligned when its at TDC.

You lost me there.
I will have to figure out how to get them aligned if that is the problem.
Something sure is...
Thanks Pierce

the timing belt is behind that black plastic cover on the front of the engine.

you should be able to see the marks by just taking the upper cover off and peering down into the crank pulley with a small bright flashlight...
