740 parking brake repair
Hello all, somebody else must have had this problem...
I am getting around to fixing the hand brake in my 740. Does anyone have a suggestion for fabricating the "keep" that was originally welded to the rear axle? It has completely rusted away, leaving nothing for the cable system to attach to. I am not sure that I can clean the surface well enough to tack a new bracket on there, though I may have to if no one has an alternative fix.
Thanks,
Andrew

I personally avoid rusty cars, and living out West I am not often tortured by rust...
I'd try a muffler shop. Those guys are magicians with a welder and usually improvise well... Shouldn't be too costly as long as there is enough good metal left to weld onto.
