AC compressor ----
It appears as though it is seized.....
It has not been used,, for quite some time...
Well, now with the colder weather and
using the heat.... putting on the defrostt..
(I am thinking it runs then as a preventative
so it doesn't end up seizing)
(subaru's do this .... you put the defrost on
and then the compressor runs....)
Anyway, How can I disconnect the AC compressor.....
Can this be done by a fuse at the fuse box....
or disconnecting a electrical connector at the
AC unit.......
Can you provide some insight into this
AC compressor.... Is it actuated by electricity
or is it actuated by vacuum.....
anyway, I just want it to sit there
and be "stupid like"(just spin the belt)
so I can have power steering Please!
Thanks, G88

WHen the clutch engauges..
That is when the music begins..
that is when the compressor says, noway.
I am not moving.... that is when it squeals.
So how do I access this connector?
Is it below the unit? in the back?
If you could describe it some that would
be helpful..... I will disconnect it so
I don't have to deal with it squealing
When the defrost is put on.......

I see what you are saying. You need not to just unplug the compressor, but to disengage the clutch so get a freewheeling pulley. May not be possible as the compressor is most likely locked up. Simple unplug won't work--you need to remove the compressor and either repair it or replace it with a pulley. There used to be a kit; no idea if it's still available.

if you disconnect the clutch, the compressor won't run, the pulley will freewheel, which is apparently working fine. as I said, unplugging the pressurestat on the AC Reciever/dryer will effectively disconnect the compressor clutch.
IPD had such a pulley kit but it only worked for some years, I know it did NOT work for our 1987 240... AFAIK, they no longer stock said kit. I replaced our frozen up compressor+clutch with a bad compressor that had a good clutch and left the clutch disconnected.
