I suggested a New one because.. you wanted a new car... If you had a new motor in the car you like.. it is like the best of both worlds!
But, Tech is right.... Cheapper used.. but.. be careful with them.

Yeah but Lucky warned me that that technology is kinda old and it would be better if i find a 940 T engine, also that the engine can have something wrong with it. What do you recommend ?
The $8200.00 figure is for a turn-key deal. He supplied the engine, transmission and labor. Converse Engineering is in Naples, Maine, so a 2000 5.0 Ford conversion is not on your radar screen. But the Mustang 5.0 is possibly an affordable option. You would need a low milage or a rebuilt 5.0 motor and a bunch of misc parts to hook everything up. If you are good with hand tools you can keep the cost down. This conversion has been going on for 20 years with Ford motors and much longer with a Chevrolet. A Chevrolet LT-1 or a LS motor would be interesting and I am sure there is someone making a kit to convert a Volvo to Chevrolet power. A LS-6 in a Volvo would be outragous. But all I know is how the Ford 5.0 works. I have over 15K miles on the Volvo 5.0 and had not one problem directly related to the swap. I've chipped the car and on the chassis
dyno, it has 219 HP with 287 ft lbs of torque and if driven responsibly it gets 19.2 miles per gallon on regular gas.
I'm not saying the Mustang 5.0 or a LT-1 swap would be easy but boy is it fun to have all that low end torque to play with on twisty curvey roads.
Good luck in your choice.

I just noticed my 95 940 is a carbon copy of your car. What is the part number for the spoiler you installed. I've got to temper what I do to the blue car because it's my work car and I continously have to remind myself of that. I just put new tires on the car, wanted fat sticky tires but settled for high milage Goodyears.

JTR makes manuals on doing V8 conversions now. They have one for putting a 305 into a 240...170 some pages.
the 5.0 is the "easiest" conversion to do though...and cheapest. You know, you could always just look for a Ford Explorer or beat up lincoln to buy...might be a cheaper avenue to go down for a V8.
