Default Easy steering rack boot replacement?

My new to me 1986 245 has a split steering rack boot. It’s nice and dry so I think the rack is healthy but want to get the boot replaced ASAP. My plan was to just count/ mark the threads with some paint, knock the outer ball joint out, unthread and install the new boot. Is it really that easy? I’ve been hitting the area with PB blaster. The outer ball joint looks fairly new so no need to replace I think. The tie rod has a flat spot to get a wrench around..
Thanks to all.

Thanks for the reply Lev!
just to clarify... I should unscrew the outer ball joint not the inner. I found a tutorial and the guy removes the inner. Looks like he has the ZF style though.. Mines a CAM. I’m looking for the easiest method as to not disturb the rack. Thanks again.
