So I just picked up this car and I've never owned a volvo. Before I go chasing all the wires I just want to see if there is something in particular I should look for. When I got the car the fuse for the overhead and power locks was blown. Hoping it would fix my door lock issue I replaced it and it hasnt blown since but no door locks. Now if I flip the switch I get light overhead but no auto. I also don't have any dash lights except for the gauge cluster. None of the other lights work(shifter, ac, and etc). If I leave the fan on and turn the car off the fan remains running. Have you guys ever unhooked your lift pump to see if it is pumping properly? The car runs and drives okay but I just get this feeling the lift pump isn't doing its job.

Is the only way to operate the locks the drivers door lock? Should it lock or unlock when put into gear or cranking?

Oh apologies! 1990 240DL automatic. Also I just found a thread that showed how to jump the fuses to test just the tank pump.

 

the locks should lock/unlock with the either front door key, or when you work the drivers door lock. they should NOT automatically lock under any other condition.

a dead in-tank pump will manifest itself by 1) making the regular pump noisier and 2) causing fuel starvation issues at heavy throttle as the gas tank gets below about 1/3rd full
