Hard to start
Hi everyone. I’m new to the forum and I’ve searched for so long but I can’t seem to figure out my problem. I recently got a 1989 Volvo 240dl. it doesn’t like to start up. Sometimes it takes me cranking the engine for a solid minute. Then i hear it fire, then fire again, and again till it finally starts into a rough idle. It is pretty much straight pipes and shoots flames, which leads me to believe it’s running rich. I have a new maf, cps, fpr, cap and rotor, and spark plugs. And when I unplug the o2 sensor I don’t notice any difference in the engine. But the check engine light doesn’t come on either Please yall I’m lost
Compression? Fuel pressure? Cam timing? Leaking injector? Codes? Do you know how to check codes? https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/EngineOBDCodes.html
O2 sensor only does something after the engine has been running for a minute and a half. Sensor has to heat up to 700 degrees or so to give a valid signal and even then it can't change the mixture very much. If you think it's a problem measure the output (with a voltmeter) or leave it unplugged.

Well I know I have compression but there are no codes. I also have new tank pump and filter. But havnt checked fuel pressure. This morning I went to start it up and it started up just fine(with a choppy idle) I’ll probably be getting a fuel pressure gauge soon. What if there isn’t the sock on the in tank pump? Could that be getting clogged?
