Default Rebuilding rear end

Hi,

First time posting to form. I'm gearing up to rebuild the front and rear end of my 85 245. My plan was to rebuild the rear first then front. I was going to replace the torque rods with IPD units along with the Panhard bar. My question is...I was going to lower the car (IPD lowering springs) and thought about not replacing torque rods and panhard bar...would the car still lineup correctly? I guess I'm weighing replacing all bushings and clean then paint parts or buy the upgrade parts. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I suspect with the IPD springs, the horizontal offset from the stock panhard rod will be like 1/4" or something, you'll never notice.

replace any badly worn bushings, trying to replace ALL the bushings is futile. mostly its the main swingarm pivots on the 240 rear that get sloppy. I'd suggest using Volvo brand stock bushings, they will last much longer than any aftermarket ones. poly in particular are quite prone to developing squeaks after a year or two, and cheap chinese poly is junk. poly will also greatly harsh the ride.

I think you are right...I'm not trying to build a race car. I just what to have a solid ride with a few upgrades. I will look into bushing kits. I was gonna go with Sachs turbo gas struts & rears. New brake lines, rotors, pads...front & rear calipers are in great shape, just gonna replace all hardware and paint them, complete front end rebuild. I also want to pickup IPD sway bars as well : )
