what car is that? It doesn't look like any instrument panel I've ever seen. odds are, its a freeze warning, suggesting that the outside temp is cold enough that there's a risk of patches of black ice etc, so its telling you to drive carefully.

well I did some more digging. It’s on my 940 and it states that once the temperature is 36 or below it comes on. It’s an odd temp for that to warn me about and the other thing is it doesn’t come on every time. That’s what through me off.

yeah, there's a bit of a margin there. At 36 degrees I guess they're telling you a bridge might be frozen. If it's night. And not cloudy.

yeah. I think my 850 had something similar, a freeze warning near the outside temp display. of course where I live its rarely below 40F...

This is the ambient temp light, part of the Cold Weather package on 940 1994 and 1995, also on 960, and 760 from the 1988 on... 1993 and newer are prewired, you just add the sensor and the dash gauge, if they don't the cold weather package. You could add this gauge on 740 with the new type panel from 1991-1992 but you'd need to run the wiring. My 1992 740 has one I added. The red light is a freezing warning supposed to come on when temp falls below 39deg but this is obviously not an exact science, it may vary...

awesome I was so ticked off I was like what in the world could this be now after everything else that has messed up. At first I thought it was some kind of O2 sensor warning light.
