replacing shifter knob
I popped the switch and I don't see a plug on mine. The wires are soldered directly to the overdrive switch and I doubt that there is a plug in the console. I guess they saved money by omitting the plug. It is starting to look like my only option is to detach and resolder the switch once the new shifter **** is in place.
I assume that your car is a manual ; on my 245 M46 4 speed manual there is a connector under the carpeting on the passenger side up on the center tunnel. IIR, loosening the boot will enable you to peel up enough of the carpet to access it. Then the switch can be pulled out through the center of the shift lever, with about a foot or so of wiring attached.
