Stall and no start problem 93 240 Wagon.
Hello. New to the forum because I have a problem with my 93 240 Wagon. Winter has come and my engine stalled coming up a snowy hill. Got a jump and went a few hundred feet then ABS light and SRS light came on and engine died. Waited a few hours and got another jump and let the car idle for about an hour then it died. Restarted once then revved the engine up a bit and the ABS and SRS light came on again and the engine stalled again. This time though the battery appeared to be charged the starter did not even click. Waited 20 minutes and starter clicked but engine would not turn over. I imagine a jump start would get it going but it would stall again.
I really would appreiate any ideas for addressing this problem. I believe my mechanic changed the fuel pump relay about 18 mos ago and this is a bit different with the ABS and SRS signals. Thanks in advanced for any suggestions.

the only thing i know is i replaced the fuel pump assembly and they sent it to me with the wires backwards and it would pull into the tank instead of pump and it stalled like your talkin about. were i had to wait like 20 mins to try to restart
If it's a B230 engine, go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free guide to 740 no-starts. That's for a B230 engine, LH-Jetronic 2.2 fuel injection.
I changed the alternator and the the same problem still shuts me down. The brake lights don't seem to be working either. Any ideas? I am thinking it must be a short somewhere but I am not sure how to isolate this.
Hey fred,
I have to tell ya that I am a little bothered by your advertising your self like you do on these forums.
I have nothing against people making money, but this is not the place to sell your wares. This is a place where volvo enthusiasts come to get help or to be of help. Yes, you are being of SOME assistance to these people, but you are practicing a very disturbing (some might say - irritating) set of behaviours.
I do not welcome such brazen disregard for community and helpmanship.
peace

Neartaos,
Be sure to check the tension on your alternator belt, so that you are 100% convinced that it is charging the battery properly. An alternator belt that is too loose or too tight can and has caused problems that you are describing.
As for the brake lights not working, that is a completely separate issue. I would remove the taillight housings and check the boards, the bulbs, and the bulb housings for good, clean contact.

This is a pretty good source of info for electricals from Brickboard. It says 700-900 but the 240 is pretty much the same so may be it will help... http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-90...alStarting.htm
