Default Steering Wheel Removal

There is conflicting information on the web regarding removal of the airbag in order to remove the steering wheel in a 940. Some say just removing the negative terminal of the battery is sufficient, while others say one should deactivate the SRS system by disconnecting Orange & Black wires under the carpet on the drivers side of the console. I'm only needing to remove the wheel to address an irritating squeak. TD

Just disconnect the NEG battery cable. I have done it many times without blowing up.

That's comforting so I'll stop looking for my catchers mask.

Here's the post mortem on my recent, very successfully completed engine swap. '91 car is immaculate with the '93 engine running well.
