I have a 92 volvo 940gl with a power sunroof and it wont open, could the switch be burned out?

 

Yes. After checking your fuses to make certain it has not blown, the switch is the most likely culprit. The motors are stout and seldom fail. If you wish to rule out the motor, you could remove the motor cover and use a test light to see if it gets power when the switch is used.
