Default Transmission Filter/Gasket Change *problems*

Trying to change the filter/gasket on a 1987 240dl and can't seem to loosen the dipstick collar from the transmission box to drop and replace necessary parts. I looked further up hoping to pull the entire tube out with the box but those bolts are also 'seized' up.

I've tried blaster to loosen the bolts but no luck. Taken a 24mm line wrench to it and still, no luck. Has anyone else had this problem?

This car has been POORLY maintained, if maintained at all for the last 20+ years ...So nothing would surprise me.

I did not take off the dip stick at all...I just undid the nut that attaches the tube to the transmission pan......I think this is what is seized up right? along with the pan bolts right?

Raise the car on Driver side so you can have room for leverage and use a wrench and go at it....Lefty Loosie...Rightie Tightie....spelled it wrong.

Kind of a crazy idea........take a mapp gas torch...and hit it a bit...just the nut....that's all I can think of...there are no orings on that particular nut....

Yup, that's what is seized. Pan bolts aren't seized that I know of, but I haven't touched them yet.

Update:

Dipstick Collar Bolts are pulled after spending near an hour trying everything on the nut next to the box to loosen it, but the two mounts are not allowing the collar to come out with the trans box. Any ideas?

collar is coming out with the pan, the nut next to the trans box is seized and won't loosen or allow the collar and trans box to separate.

apply heat to it...my next move...or use a rubber(or hammer but lightly) mallet and with pan bolted...smack the collar nut while heating it....

I had same problem my 93 240.
I end up did not take the dip stick tube out from transmission pan. It was not possible mine... So, I drain fluid from pan drain as much as possible. Then I remove all transmission pan bot, bend pan with tube, remove fluid as much as possible, clean by lug. Clean magnet and changed filter. Put all back to place.
Looks okay now and no leaks.

Do you really need to take that off? You may open a can of worms. Changing that filter is not usually needed.
