My friend has a 1980 Volvo 240, he wants to switch the manual transmission to an automatic transmission. Is this possible and what would be involved in doing this. Any info would be great.

Why would anyone go that way?

Anyways, you'll need. Transmission (aw71), stall converter, b21f throttle spool, kick down cable, front half of the drive axle, center piece, and slide shifter, and automatic sized brake pedal, actually probably the whole pedal cluster. Probably a bunch of little things I'm not even thinking about.

Basically pull out everything associated with the manual and put in everythign associated with the auto.
