Hello everyone. I got a newly revived 89 245 wagon. Engine is a dog....a tired dog. I would like to swap the engine for a 6 or 8 cylinder engine. Don't care for 400 HP or the engine brand. This is my daily driver. Who would have the experience in S FL to get that done for me???

A lot of people are doing the LSX swap and lots of parts are made for it.


look over at turbobricks. search for them. you will find a lot of them.


Easy swap, good gas mileage, good power for a 3,200# car.

 

Sorry, but I can't see how such a conversion will be good for a Daily Driver. DD implies reliability and an engine swap would be a nightmare to live with over time, and I doubt you can get one for less than $1500-2000. So, what's the point then? Your 245 is worth $1,500 in good condition now, a running, re-engined 245 is worth less.

The engine being a "dog", well, 114hp only go so far. A turbo Volvo does better power wise... (Funny expression, negatively comparing an engine to a dog; dogs can be pretty high performance animals...)
