Volvo 760 flywheel question!!
Hey, guys.
It's been a while since I've posted on here, but now I have a question about my flywheel.
My buddy and I just recently removed both my engine and trams together. I asked him to separate the flywheel from the torque converter and he accidentally broke a small piece of the aluminum ring thing that is on the trans side of the flywheel for the RPM sensor. (My sensor is the type on top of the bellhousing).
Sooo, my question is: do I need a new flywheel now? Or can I just bend the piece back into place and weld/braze/etc. it together? Im just wondering if that would effect the sensor's accuracy. Has anyone ever even ran into this? The flywheel itself is still great.
Thanks,
Sam

Not sure if that would work, since the computer counts each and every one of those shutters. But would you risk the repair and all of the work just to get it together and find out it doesn't work? But if you are one of those people who can pull an engine or trans like some people pull weeds than maybe you should take the risk.
After all the computer is counting the pulses not measuring the distance between each pulse.
Maybe someone has actual experience with this repair.
Good luck.

If you do a good job welding it and cleaning it up, I think it will work--this computer can't be that sensitive... I'd try it.
A used flywheel is a hassle to remove from the JY, or else it will cost... But if can get one cheap and easy, say $20 out of the car, I'd change it then...
