Default 850 = tree repellant?*

Had some high winds here overnight. I got woke up about 4:00 this morning to a loud crash. Turns out a tree fell on our garage. Amazingly enough though, while the roof is probably pretty busted up (hard to see with just a flashlight and theres no way I want to climb up there right now) NOTHING made it through the garage roof.

I credit the Volvo engineers for incorporating a little-known "tree repellant system" into our vehicles which (obviously) works as advertised. w00t!

*disclaimer: this was written pretty tongue in cheek. I'm not really happy about the tree, but I'm trying to make light of a bad situation. Things could definitely have been worse...

Nothing to see, really. Nothing came through the garage ceiling. Just a little bit of roof damage.

The insurance guy who came out today took some pictures, but, as i said, the damage was minimal. Trees falling on things around here aren't all that uncommon. it IS northern Indiana...

HAHAHAHAH I bet you could collect like 5 million bucks from donations if you said you had an engangered species in it, too.

If you are not experienced, let the pro's fix the roof. Do move the car before it rains or you will have wet sheetrock on your car.

I've done a roof or two in my time. Not that big a deal. I'm gonna have to see what the insurance company says about what they are gonna do for us and go from there when it comes to how much of it im going to replace. I'm definitely gonna at least redo the garage, but will probably wind up doing the whole house - its the original roof and the house is 15 yrs old.

silk: you have NO idea....lol since we bought this house (in 2008) I have added a 15x44 ft deck with a hot tub built into it, part of which i extended a gable over so it's covered, put hardwood all through the upstairs, built a shed, insulated and finished the garage and installed a heater, and am in the process of finishing the basement. Basement has a billiards room (with wet bar), bathroom, poker room, laundry room, storage room, and home theatre. Oh, and the basement was NOT roughed in for a bathroom, so i cut out some concrete and did the plumbing for it. I've done all the plumbing, wiring, framing, and drywall hanging down there.

It's a never ending process. LOL I plan on putting in an irrigation system in the spring and probably putting a small pond with a waterfall out in the back yard too.
