850 starter problem
re: '93 850 GLT (non-turbo) 5-speed
I think it's really the solenoid.... but... My son started the car and all electricals were dead (although the car was running). The A/C didn't work, windows wouldn't roll down, no radio, etc. He drove the car home (less than 3 miles).
When I went to go lok at it, it wouldn't start. All the electricals worked, but when I turn on the starter, I can hear the starter motor spinning, but it doesn't enage with the flywheel. I then push started it, it worked fine and all electrical systems worked...
So, it sounds like the solenoid stuck on and now it's disengaged, but won't re-engage. After push starting it, it acted exacly the same when I tried to start it with the starter, so I don't think there is a bad place on the flywheel.
Any other ideas?
I'm just going to get a new starter/solenoid and swap it out. Any hints there, is there anything extra tough about doing that?
