Default 93 850 cam seal

i need to change the exhaust cam seal and will also do the intake while i am at it. i am wondering do i need to lock the back of the cams or can i just mark there position with a paint pen. i guess what i am wondering is will the cams just start moving or is it safe to just mark them

Are you going to do the front or rear? If you are doing the rear the cams will be held in place by the t-belt. If you are doing the front, you will need to pull the t-belt and all that stuff so you will want to mark a lot and mark clearly.

Did you see my write up on that?

The way I have always done it is to put three marks on the timing belt where it touches the exhaust cam, and corresponding 3 marks on the exhaust cam itself so that they line up. On the intake cam, I put 2 dots in the same manner.
