Default AC compressor

My AC works sometimes so I took it to get looked at. I was told that the coil in my compressor was bad and that they could repair it.I got my car back and the AC works fine. However, my car idles kinda rough. When I opened the hood I'm seing a wire and a relay. They did not fix the coil as they said that they would but the added a relay so that more current would go to the weak coil.Is this safe and could this be the reason why my car is not working as it did before?

Does the radiator fan come on with the A/C? I'm going thru this right now. The fan has to come on or the compressor will just click on, then click off several seconds later. It's making my car run rough when I'm at low speed.

I hear the compressor click but I am not sure if the fan is on since the car idles rough and vibrates. It seems to have less power also

If it was me, I would take out the compressor and reshim it as tech mentioned, and remove the relay/jumper they installed. It should work better. IF not, you might have to shoot the nickel and get a new compressor. I don't really see any harm in the relay, but if it is making the car idle rough, it could be putting too much load on the alternator, causing the rough idle.

That is very strange the rough idle. Did they do anything else to the car?
