cannot turn off dash panel lights
My daughter noticed that when she turned off the ignition switch the day lights stayed on . Now have completely flat battery as was not told in time. I have tried dismantling the ignition switch but thiss not obviously faulty. Any help appreciated. Thank you
In addition I have found that removing the ignition module, and or removing the fuel pump relay does not turn off the dash panel lights. The ignition module appear fine on dismantling. I have also removed and replace the three ecu boards. As I do not have American Volvo cannot read the codes. Engine will now not start- probably flooded!
Thank you for the suggestion. I tried that but lights remain on even when dimmer wiring and headlamp switch disconnected. Pulling a wire off the back of the alternator dropped out several lights. All fuses in the fuse box are normal. Removing the No 4 fuse (Immobiliser - spare) turned off the dashboard lights. This fuse seems tone very sensitive and the slightest wiggle makes it work/ not work. The adjacent 30 amp fuse for the heater fan looks as though it has suffered some heat issues and the fuse connector slot is slightly melted.
I might add that I have no headlight function , no indicator function, and the car will not start, Wiggling the " spare fuse" Position 4 seems to activate the fuel pump relay switch to go off and on.
This volvo is looking very close to extinction at this stage given the potential cost of transporting it to a garage who probably will say they cannot find the problem!

Sounds like you may have found the issue.....in the fuse box. You could always see if you can get a new fuse panel from the wrecking yard and splice it in. Would e some work, but if the car is worth saving I would give it a shot.
