Default convert power antenna to fixed?

Is it possible to remove my power antenna assembly and install a regular fixed one.

Anyone ever try it? Pros/Cons?

Absolutely.

Pros, you can listen to music because you have reception
Cons, It might be bent in a car wash.

I seen a guy install a shark fin at the back of the roof like the new cars. Others have installed those short universal rubber ones that stand about 6".

To me, seems like a lot of work and expense when you can replace the retractable one for $15 and install a switch for free or $5.

Agreed.

I can hear the motor run after I shut it off, but the antenna doesn't move.
I've seen the $15 part on FCP & others, is that really all there is to it?

I've never had antenna issues with my other Volvos...

I just did my Thunderbird this afternoon. I forgot to lower it for a carwash .....
I'd prefer to have the electric working. Taking it apart is a bit of a pain but it's just a matter of taking your time and having a clean work area to take it apart and reassemble it.
When in doubt, watch youtube: https://www.google.com/#q=youtube+vo...st+replacement
