Exclamation HELP! HELP!! Major Fuel line leak in Engine!!!!!!

HELP!!! Major Fuel line leak!!!!

i have fuel spewing out of by the first injector port! it is spewing fuel so fast my tank is dropping on the fuel gauge. I did replace my entire PCV system over last weekend and it drove fine after. It leak today like busted faucet

If you look at the picture, the left bolt for the fuel rail broke off when I was torquing to much. I know my fault and I am going to fix it. I believe the bolt is not there to hold the fuel rail in balance. I hope this is the case and not broken fuel injector or bad rail itself that has a leak. I see where it spews from but it is hard to check because the fuel spews out like a lawn sprinkler and it was covering the entire engine in it. I don't want to start it till it's fixed.

Any ideas, solutions or experience in this matter would be greatly appreciated and rather soon too!

Thanks

Make sure the rail connection is tight. Pull the rail and check the injector o-rings.

+1 on the o-rings. Ask me how I know.

Try pushing down on that end of the fuel rail and feel if it goes down. If so it's likely seating the injector back into the O ring. With your weight on it have someone turn it over and start it up and see if it stops spewing fuel.

You'll need that bolt replaced one way or another and if you pull the rail it would be cheap insurance to replace the O rings with new. BWD 274571 - Fuel Inj. Seal Kit | O'Reilly Auto Parts

I truly believe the broken bolt is the issue.I hope that is the case anyway. I want and will replace all the orings for the injectors for good measure.
I over torqued that fuel rail bolt and it snapped off when I finished my pcv replacement. It drove a few days without any leaks but now it leak very fast!! I was losing gallons by the minute with the car on.

If you are lucky you might be able to pull the rail out of the way and take a grinder to the remains of the bolt and make a groove for a screwdriver and spin it out. I know you were twisting it pretty hard but when the head breaks off there isn't any clamping torque on the remaining stud sitting in the threads. A good welder could take a bolt and arc it to the stud and thereby give a head to wrench it out too. Just need to find a guy with some skills. Also a small chisel and hammer might be able to tap it and get it to spin out.
Then there is always drill and helicoil it !!

Better yet, it's all junk and you need to upgrade to the NA manifold and NA throttle body (performance modification)

I think I am going to take in the shop to extract the broken bolt.

I dont want to damage it more. The scary part I am concern about the fuel spewing everywhere~ALOT and FAST! I went from the 12 mark to less the 6 mark on the fuel gage. I lost over 6 gallons in about 8 mins. It was horrible!! I will also replace the O-rings on all the fuel injectors for sure.

what would the n/a manifold do for a turbo model, better performance and/or fuel economy? how much would it co$t and find one?

If you are going to take it to a shop to get it fixed, for GOD's SAKE, tow it there, don't drive it! Leaking fuel that badly is a sure bet for an engine fire if that fuel hits the hot exhaust manifold. Think not only about yourself, but the others on the road if it lights off......

That is seriously dangerous. Vaporized gas blowing in the air...not a good combo.

What the last 2 have said. DO NOT START A CAR WITH FUEL LEAKING... anywhere.

The bolt you broke holds that end of the fuel rain into the manifold. When the bolt is loose or missing, the end of the rail will raise and leak fuel. I usually DO NOT take the fuel rail off when doing the PCV, those seals are old and will leak, that is why IPD puts new seals in their PCV kits.

At any rate, you should be able to replace that screw by pulling the rail up and unscrewing the bolt with pliers. Then install another bolt. I wouldn't pay $150 to have someone else hack at it.

I got the broken bolt removed and replaced w/ a new one. The gas spewing leak is now gone and runs like a champ. However, after replacing the pcv system and changing the oil, the check engine light w/ code p0171 came back on. I really want to fix this vacuum leak once for all. Any place to start? I just replaced the pcv and still have this CEL on.
