Default How do I gas this thing up?

Hello all!
Well, I just took delivery of my 1996 850 Turbo Platinum wagon today (only 69000 miles!), and am digging it already. This weekend will be spent ridding it of it's smoker's smell, and trying to restore the leather a bit.

I do have a question for you all, and I'm somewhat embarrassed by it. I spent 30 minutes at the gas station today before having to drive off without adding anything to the tank. I couldn't find a button for the fuel door release. I tried opening it from the outside, but it felt like I was going to pull it off. Would anyone be so kind as to tell me what I'm doing wrong?

The central locking system sends a pin into the gas door so it cant be opened. It the doors are unlocked the pin should release. If it does not release there is a manual cable behind the tail light cover.

That was a better answer. Maybe you have an answer for my thread?

Oh, there'll be pics alright!! Unfortunately, it was dark and rainy today and tonight. In fact, a treelimb displaced by the wind just missed my hood by about 18 inches. Tomorrow is likely to be the same. Hoping to be able to really clean it up next week and get some pics up by the weekend. I don't think the rims have been cleaned in some time, and a wax and buff is long overdue. I love it so far and want to show it off. I do need to do the Showroom New treatment to the trim, and it could stand a new set of tires as well.

On a side note, do any of you guys happen to be in or around Chicago? I have to replace the ABS module, and I could use a little encouragement/help even though it looks straightforward. I'd be willing to compensate you for your time, of course.

MRF, Don't feel bad - I had the same issue with a trip to the gas station. It's rare that I'd have locked the car when I got out, and sure enough I went NUTS!

I'm out in Glen Ellyn and I have a '97 850 GLT wagon. I haven't done a great deal of work on the car, but I love to get under the hood and avoid them stealerships! PM me if you'd like to chat.

Another note on the fuel door... If you lock the back hatch/trunk with the key, it will lock the fuel door and it won't unlock with remote/door key.
