PCV Help!
I started doing my pcv system, and it's all out. Last time it was done it was taken to a mechanic. Now I have a couple questions because there are some lines that are plugged and don't go anywhere. The smaller hose on the double hose that goes from the oil trap to the PTC that is supposed to go on the backside of the PTC was plugged with a golf tee, so that's not an issue, I can just unplug and put it on the nipple. However, on the other end of that hose by the oil trap, it doesn't go anywhere, it wasn't connected to anything. Is this how it's supposed to be set up or did the mechanic butcher it?
I have oil leaks and a smoking dipstick tube and read that a clogged ptc would cause that, well mine was obviously clogged seeing how there was a golf tee wedged into the line.
Any help would be greatly appreciated seeing as how my car is currently in pieces in my garage and need to get it done.
Thanks.

#10 is supposed to go to the side of the intake if there is a nipple there. It will be like right behind the power steering pump. If you do not have a nipple there run it to the vacuum tree. Just make sure it is out if the way of the throttle linkage.

Ok, I just looked and I didn't see any nipple anywhere around or behind the power steering pump. Is it the nipple on an intake hose or on the intake manifold? I do see the vacuum tree now.
Yeah, I looked and looked and my intake did not have that. I wonder if that's something they changed in 95, because the directions/pictures I used to do the pcv system ....

...is different for my car. Although many of the steps were the same, there were some differences. The gas line is different set up, there is a bracket that screws onto the bottom of the intake manifold, and a couple extra lines that I had to disconnect from the intake, steps or pictures that were not in that description.
None the less, I successfully replaced the oil trap, cleaned the lines, and reconnected vacuum lines that the last mechanic failed to do, however, after my test drive, realized that the moving around in the engine had caused two oil lines to start leaking worse than they were before, as well as two intake hoses that were incredibly worn out, so now I have to wait for those until I can drive it.

My intake manifold had nothing on the side of it, there was no place to put it, i checked the manifold after i took it off. And the mechanic who last did the pcv system about 100,000 miles ago did not attach the vacuum line to anything, not even the PTC side was hooked up, it was just sitting in there. Instead I ran a vacuum line from the PTC to the vacuum tree located under the throttle body. So at least now it is hooked up.
Without that hooked up the system will not work, looks like your mechanic didn't do a good job, well done. Mine also did not have the nipple on the intake manifold. Hooked it up as you did. These cars a great and even better if you can spin a spanner yourself.
OK, so at least I'm not the only one who doesn't have a nipple on the intake, it was starting to seem like that. Now I can't wait till the rest of the parts come in so I can actually drive it with the new parts and everything hooked up correctly.
Arzy- nice car and I really like your license plate.

Haha. For some reason I feel like you wrote on this so you could say nipple. We should start a nippleless intake manifold club.
Actually, if certain 850's don't have the NIPPLE on the intake manifold, why is that? And how were they originally hooked up? Did the vacuum line run from the PTC to the vacuum tree like I have set up now? I just thought about that, had a light bulb moment.
