Default Service engine light not resetting...

I had a check engine light and a service engine light on my girlfriends car that I wanted to get rid of. I easily removed the check engine light, but when I went to remove the service engine light, I could not get it into the modify zone. When I would connect the #7 connector and press the button 4 times, I would get a quick flash after 5 seconds instead of a constant light. If I continued on, nothing would happen. Is there some reason it won't go into the correct mode for me to remove the service light? Car is a 95 850. Thanks in advance.

you have to repeat all the codes at least once, then you have to hold the button for 8-10 seconds wait for the light to go solid then push and hold another 8-10seconds and it should go off and you then should be able to read the code again and it should be 111

No, the check engine light was no problem to turn off as I went through all the codes once and then held the button to get to the 1-1-1 flash to remove it. It's the service engine soon light that I can't get off as it is supposed to be to push the button 4 times to get into the system so you can then delete the light. When I push the button 4 times the light only flashes quick after 5 seconds instead of staying on and allowing me to then proceed with the rest of the process to remove it.
