Hi all,

Interesting issue on the automatic transmission on my son's 95 850 Turbo. First off, the car has 172K and change on it, and runs very well. The only issue is when you shift into reverse. IF you shift into reverse when the car/fluid is cold (i.e. backing out of the driveway first thing in the morning) it shifts smooth and quiet. After driving a bit and the fluid is warm, if you shift from drive to reverse or park to reverse, it shfits with a noticable heavy "Thunk".[]

On the road the transmission shifts smooth in econ mode, and firm in sport, and never flares or hesitiates. Just the annoying thunk into reverse when warmed up.

The fluid was changed about 3K ago as it was the color of motor oil when he bought the car. I checked it yesterday and it is a mildly dark red, but is not burnt smelling or gritty feeling.

I'm going to change the fluid again next weekend, but outside of that, anyone have any suggestions??
