12 volt aux power outlet, front and rear, '02 C70
Just purchased a 2002 C70. It has two aux 12 volt power outlets, one in the front and one for the rear seats. The front one works, the rear one does not. I find only one fuse listed for the 12 v power outlet - it is a single circuit fuse. The fuse is good, so I am guessing that fuse only controls the front power outlet. Any suggestions how to figure out why the rear one does not work? Thanks,

I have finally found the right page in the VADIS wiring diagrams. It would appear that the fuse does control both, as they are linked on the diagram,so you are probably looking at a wiring fault between the front and rear or an earth (ground) fault on the rear.

Thank you billofdurham...my thanks to you that you took the time to research the VADIS wiring diagrams. I hope to be able to return the favor someday. Now to investigate starting with looking at the 12v outlet to see if the wires including the ground are properly connected. Thanks again, John

RE: 12 volt aux power outlet, front and rear, '02 C70
I had not yet had the time to find the fault in the rear 12 volt aux. Now the front 12 volt aux power supply does not work. I have replaced the fuse, even though the original fuse did not look like it was bad.
Can anyone describe how to remove the center console wood trim so I can see where the wires come into the front 12 v aux power socket? Can anyone descirbe how to take the grey plastic trim off of the rear center console so I can see if there is a broken ground connection somewhere.
My other thought - do these 12v sockets go bad? Perhaps it is not a broken ground but a bad socket.
Anyone else experience the same problems?
Thanks
John

First thing to is to figure out if the fuse for the outlets has power on both terminals. Use a mult-meter for on DC volts to test. Once tested, removal of console may be necessary. This is done by removing the back seat bottom, and torx screws from the console. Test wire s at both outlets the same and trace wiring back to fuse box. You could also wire a relay to both outlets to give them power.

Fuse #30 front cigar lighter, fuse #36 rear cigar lighter, both 15 amp fuses. They are not connected! F30 has a y/vo wire going to terminal 1 of fuse front lighter, f36 has a y/w wire going to terminal 1 of rear cigar lighter. Terminal 2 on both fuses go to ground. Haynes book 3573, page 12.29. Both fuses located undr hood fuse panel.
