Don't know the turbine dia. But I do know is that people purchase and make 3" downpipes for their Volvo's all the time.

knowing what i know, exhaust diameter is related to how much boost your gonna run, so if irun 10-15psi of boost, i'd need a 3" exhaust.
i'm not even sure how much boost this car puts out stock, but i'mma find out cause it's a slug! i don't know why Volvo would ever have a car that was 5-cylinder, turbocharged and weighing like 4000lbs only pushing 190 hp @ the flywheel. it's OK, imma change that

i just wanted to post my latest visual touch, which happends to be a small one, but i think it's a cool addition.
i bought the US flagsticker from autozone and the Swedish flag from stickershoppe.com. they are both made from quality vinyl. Swedish flag stickers are hard to find.

I like that USA/Sweden touch!
The reason they use the giant downpipe is because that's where the most restriction is, and if you're trying to reduce backpressure, that's one of the best places to reduce it.
Personally, if I were to get exhaust done, I would go 3" downpipe and the 2.5" piping afterwards. Simply because 3" is too loud and drones. This setup should be enough to get that little guy to spool up really quick.
I believe the relationship between piping is with power levels rather than boost. If you have high power goals, then you want to get the bigger stuff, but if you're just daily drivering it, then 2.5" is more than sufficient.

RE: MY C70 UPGRADES
yeah, i will be just daily driving the volvo. my neon is the power hitter. i have a 3" exahaust on it from the turbo back.
the dodge SRT-4 comes factory with a 2.5" exhaust and makes 230hp and 250ft tq@ 16psi!
i'm gonna build the downpipe 2.5" and the rest of the exhaust will be the same size. i will only bump it up to 3" if i get a big turbo upgrade to boost 15psi. i would like to make 300hp, lord knows this heavy car needs to, by then, i will need to have a 3" exhaust and my 2.5" exhaust will be up for sale.
you can't make much power if you don't move the boost in and out efficently.

a 2.5" mandrel bent catback system is a good thing if your keeping the stock turbo, but if you upgrade your turbo you should go to a 3" mandrel bent catback system.
Turbo's like free flowing and N/A's like backpressure. So the more free flowing the better. However there is a limit.
1. Space constraints.
2. The size of piping. 4" is too big and you will more then likely loose power. 3" is perfect. Plus 4" probably wouldn't fit anyways even if you wanted to go that big for whatever reason.

RE: MY C70 UPGRADES
here are my latest visual changes although small, i think they make a big difference. when i saw Tech's caps i know i wanted some. i had to peel away the acrylic volvo label from the factory center cap and mount them to the smaller center caps that the wheels came with. i think they match the wheels better than black volvo logos.

RE: MY C70 UPGRADES
oh boy, i have problems. yesterday i noticed a small coolant leak from under the car while getting my alighnment and i couldn't find it. today at noon i wanted to find the source of the leak since the bottle was at the MIN line and the plastic end tank of the radiator is cracked.
i would like to get an all aluminum replacement, does anybody know where i can get one?
C&R racing can custom build one, but i'm sure i'll need all the dimentions and measurments to give them for it.
what are my options???

Wow great job on all the rides lol... Here are some of my MTEC HID's.. they were great, but I eventually got a warranty claim to replace them and then I sold them cause I believe the heat from them caused something to allow foggy/water in. So now i use rainX every month on it, and it does the trick. They were 8000k, here are some before/after pics.

RE: MY C70 UPGRADES
ok, i called C&R racing radiators in Indiana and spoke with the builder named Devin. i gave him my situation and he said that they have never did an application for the C70 before and said that they could take measurments and build one, but i made a better suggestion. i would feel better sending him an actual C70 radiator to build off of, that way he can see where all the tabs for fans, relays etc. should go.
so, where can i get a busted C70 radiator to send in and get this thing made? volvo dealer, salvage yard? donations?

But we just sold all of the bad ones to a junk guy.
But if we do one soon I will ask how much for a Junk one and let you know.
When you finally get it we can do it here one weekend.
