Default Air Conditioning Won't Turn Off

I was driving my 2002 S40 on Sunday with the control **** off for the A/C and it suddenly turned on full blast even though it was in the "off" setting. The actual air conditioning on/off button works, (so I can make it cold or not) but no matter where I put the "strength ****" it's on high and won't turn off. Any ideas?

This car has been nothing but a nightmare.

It's probably the blower motor resistor. When mine went bad the blower would only operate full blast. Not changing the cabin air filter will kill it early as the resistor needs airflow to keep it cool.

It's a bit of a pain to access as it's behind some metal that holds the glove box. I had to drill 2 holes in that metal bar to access the screws holding the resistor inside the air duct. The holes are covered when the glove box is re-installed.

Default **update

I haven't had the time or resources to get a new blower motor, but as of today nothing comes out of the vents at all, it's completely dead. Any ideas?

Also still having an issue with the brakes being very rigid when the car hasn't been driven in several hours, it needs a good 5 minutes or so to work properly.

I have had so many issues with this car, it's driving (pun intended) me crazy. It's a 2002 and only has 74k, ugh.
