Default Blower issue

New here sorry if this has been covered, I couldn’t find it. My S40 (2004) blower only works on the highest level (hurricane mode)!

Ive read on here about the resistor being the issue and have got a replacement part and tested this today but even with the new resistor it doesn’t change the issue.

I don’t think it can be a motor problem as the fan still works on max. It can’t be the resistor as I’ve replaced it new. What do you think I’m looking at?

I’m stumped. Thanks!

It's the climate unit - here's a possible repair choice, call them first for their opinion.

thanks very much for the reply, that sounds like a sensible conclusion. Checked the fuses today to make sure it wasn’t that. Shame it’s a pricey fix.

if anyone has a DIY solution I’m all ears, on a bit of a budget here.

thanks again.

You should be able to track down a unit for an 02-04 S40 from a wrecker, say $50. Do an online search. You would want to get an equiv unit with DSA and/or heated seat buttons. Check the 3 bulbs are working at time of install.
