Default Over filled oil...HELP!

Hi, I have a 2002 s40...very long story short, my car was over filled with oil by alittle over a quart... it has lost power, and vibrates when you get to around 50mph. It was driven this way for about 600 miles...i thought that my wheel was out of balance and that was causing the vidrating..(that was the case last time), but i was driving and REALLY noticed loss of power. The next morning when I statred the car some black smoke came out, but only for a second. I have had the oil changed again(right level this time), and I changed the spark plugs...It definitly runs better, but still not back to normal. My car only blew black smoke onetime for just a second, i dont see any oil leaking anywhere...one sparkplug was pretty nasty when I changed it. Do I just need to drive it to blow out any excess oil in the system to get it back to normal? I have only driven it about 5 miles since oil and spark plug change. It idles fine, sounds good, after changing the spark plugs the vibration at 50 is quite alot less, but there is still a hint of it...power is better, but not great...any help would be great!!!!

I don't see what more you could do. The one time I over-filled an engine with oil I had a drop in pressure. Once the excess was removed it went back to normal. Me? I'd drive it. Then again, if it breaks I can fix it. Are you getting anything strange like whistling out of the dipstick tube?

My initial question is... who over filled it? If it was an oil change shop or the stealer, I would speak with their manager and get them on the hook ASAP. I serviced an Acura a few weeks ago that had to much oil in it. Not good. I would have made them pay for the spark plugs.

I think it will be ok but you should keep an eye on it for a few hundred miles.

The black smoke is when the mixture is extremely rich.Oil smokes gray. Now try to see if the intake system got overfloded with oil from the evap system. It is possible that the excess oil did make it all the way up to the throttle/idle valves and clogging up some vacuum lines.I would open up the upper hose between the TB and IC and see if its dry or not.You might have the entire IC clogged.

What does TB and IC stand for? I think you are right about vacum hoses being clogged. Do I just change the hoses, or is there more to it?

TB-throttle body
IC-intercooler.
Just see if you have oil in that hose connecting the two.

I just checked both ends of the hose and there WAS oil in there! There wasn't alot, but there was oil. What do I do now? Can I spray something in TB to clean it? I still don't have all the power back in my engine at all and it still has a shake at around 55mph.

Probably best to pull them and spray them clean with cab cleaner or some sort of degreaser.

good points to check out regarding the TB/IC tube etc..i just bought a 00' s40 last week whose owner put in about 7 qts of the wrong grade of oil. oil was coming out of the dipstick tube which was the wrong one in fact (it seems to have come from a B230F -small diameter, single o-ring design). will check on these other items next. at freeway speed it just glides smooth and quite as can be with no loss of power. turbo kicks in fine. at idle though the engine shakes a bit due to worn motor mounts which i'll replace when i can.

as far as fixing the problem, i'd just clean up/out as much as i could and drive.
