Default Parking lights don't work

I bought a 2000 s40 for my daughter, the latest problem is the parking lights don't work. All the other lights work, headlights, brake lights, signal, hazard and high beams. All the fuses are good, all the bulbs are good. I bought another, used headlight switch. The parking lights don't work. Is it the CEM? Anyone? Thanks.

That would be my guess too, the CEM.

What is a CEM? Maybe the relay is bad.

I don't see a relay specifically for the parking lights, do they run off the headlight relay?

CEM: Central Electronic Module. It seems to be the thing that craps out regularly.

It was the CEM. Got one off eBay for $89. Took about 15 mins to install. The lights are on all the time now (when the car is running) but I'm not worried about it. I need to find the trick to turn them off. Thanks everyone for the input. JP

^^From what I understand, you can't turn off the headlights in position O unless you take it in to a Volvo dealer. I know it's annoying.

I've been told there is a procedure for turning off the daytime running lights. It's in the owners manual. I have left mine alone though so I cannot verify.

As far as I know, Volvo dealers can turn off the 'headlights' in position O and leaving only the Daytime Running Lights on, but I doubt if anyone can do it by using the owner's manual. The dealers needed to hook up to their computers for software updates - similar to Audi cars using Vag-Com.

Turn the headlight switch to the 'Parking' position.
Insert the ignition key and turn it to II
Pull the main beam leaver towards you
Turn the light switch to 0
Return the ignition key to off and remove it.

Interesting. What if one wants to put it back like before, just repeat the same order?

Default Parking light fuse 10A

When I switch on my parking lights the 10A fuse blows immediately. The running lights stays on. Is this also a problem with the CEM? With the fuse blown my fog lights does not work.
