My stock exhaust is nearing the end of its 12 year life. I probably have two years or so before it starts to pinhole. I am including the downpipe and catalytic converter in that estimated life span. I have bounced around you tube and this forum among others and heard multiple high rev and acceleration videos but I have only been able to find a 60 mph cruise video for ipd and I believe their video used a stock down pipe.

I'm planning for either an elevate or ipd down pipe so I know that the exhaust sound will get louder. What I'm wondering is how loud. In the video, the ipd sounds great on acceleration but had quite the drone in the cabin at 60 mph. The elevate system sounded closer to a ferrari but had a high pitched edge on acceleration that IMO shouldn't be there. The borla had more baritone but also a tin sound on gear change and seems louder incrementally than the ipd system.

My s60 is my long distance commuter car so any sounds at 60 - 75 mph is what I'll be hearing 90% of the time. I don't want to arrive where I'm going with a headache so I would like to minimize the amount of drone if at all possible.

Would any of you Go Pro or new smart phone owners with after market exhausts be wiling to record some cruising time at 60 mph and list the system and recording device you used? I really hate paying for stock parts after the cat if I can get better performance for about the same $$ without killing my eardrums.

Before you ask, I am oldish but I can also appreciate a well tuned exhaust note. There's something truly moving about a deep V8 rumble ripping down a straight or a flat plane crank rocketing to 7000+ rpm on launch that is magical but a 5 cylinder turbo drone? I'll pass .
